Spring has Sprung! (or not)

September the 1st is officially Spring Day here in the Southern Hemisphere. I'll ignore the fact that it's actually cold and raining at the moment and honour the occassion by showing you some pictures of fabulous brights.

I usually tend towards neutrals in decorating, so this is a step out of my comfort zone! But a departure from the norm makes things more interesting, doesn't it?  I usually associate bright colours with more modern and contemporary furnishings and decor, but these images I found have mostly traditional  French style furniture. I am amazed at how beautifully they go with bright fabrics, objects and art.

Aren't these rooms just gorgeous!

I would never of dreamt of covering chairs in such a bright, acid yellow - but look how wonderful they look.

The pink chaise above and daybed below are both so inviting!

I would be more likely to include colour in small doses like the picture below. Whip away the cushion and vases and I'd be back to my safe neutrals!

As pretty as this chair below looks, I think it would be too much of a commitment for me.

Mmmm... I wonder what my household full of boys would feel about these pink chairs?

Even bedrooms can look wonderful with an injection of bright colour!

I would never in a million years have chosen this wallpaper above and look how fabulous it looks!

And to round off some lovely spring pictures which I couldn't resist!

Could you live with brights like these or do you prefer neutrals or paler colours? I'd love to hear from you.

Till next time

  3. I really like some of these (not all of them, only some) but I love it when home owners/designers think outside the box. I love neutrals and popping them up with colours.

  5. I, like you, live in a house filled with males so they would not be diggin' the hot pink. :) But my girly heart sure enjoyed looking at your pretty pictures! The outdoor photo w/ the cloche on the table actually made me sigh. It's SO beautiful! I love neutrals, but am finding I like to have a bit of soft color in each of my rooms.

  7. That's a lot of color Sharon, so beautiful! Well you are starting spring and pretty soon we'll be in the fall, we've had a hot summer and can't wait for that to end. I prefer neutrals, I'm not a bold color girl, but when you combine them with the right accessories bold colors are heavenly.
Have a great start of spring!

  13. Amazing colours, I prefer pastel colours like powder gray and blue or antique pink. Soft colours (just thinking about my home!).

  14. Who would have thought brights could look so beautiful on traditional furniture. But like you I'm more of a neutral girl! Thanks for sharing such glorious images. Enjoy your weekend X

  15. What a glorious post! So many beautiful images. I love colour but I'm really not confident about using it. Some people really know what they're doing and these pics show that! Rachaelxx

  16. I could have sworn I already posted a comment but perhaps my connection failed right when I wanted to do so. :( I loved the vibrancy of these colors - so much energy! I came back to comment (again) because of your wonderful comments on my interview from yesterday - that was so nice of you to say! So glad we have connected! :)
