Follow the Script

My mother gave me this Queen Anne chair below about 15 years ago. It was upholstered in a tapestry fabric which, at the time, I thought was a bit frumpy. I daringly decided to have it reupholstered in this script fabric. My mother politely didn't say anything but I think she thought I had ruined the chair. Nowadays you see script fabric everywhere. I was clearly way ahead of my time! LOL.

15 years on and I still love the fabric.

There wasn't a lot of choice then. Now you can find it in every style and colour.

Here are some lovely examples.

Till next time

  4. You just helped me make up my mind! I have two Louis XVI chairs that I am having reupholstered! This fabric will be perfect! Please see my last Craigslist Finds post and tell me what you think? I also would love suggestions on the finish for the wood!

  10. Hi Sharon. Your chair is magic and I also love scripted fabrics. love the colours the pinks, blue and creams etc. Who are those fabrics by?
I adore the fabrics by Tanya Sturgeon and Caroline Quartermine! Saw a black, gold and taupe also scripted by African Sketchbook!

  18. Here's to being ahead of your time! If you go shopping and can't find what you want, you have to create it. It's sort of like the chicken and the egg - which comes first, the creativity that makes you ahead of your time, or does being ahead of your time make you have to be more creative? Whatever it is, it works. :)

  19. I love your chair and this is a fun and beautiful post. I love the script fabric. Next to your chair...I really love that little grungy French bench. Thanks for the sweet comment about my bath today. We struggled with it when building the house and now it's one of my favorite spaces. XOXO Mona
