Black and white - my way

I am not a fan of typical black and white interiors. I find them somewhat hard and stark. In truth, they intimidate me a bit, I think I'm not as sophisticated as they need me to be!  If I was to introduce black and white into my home - it would be in a gentler, more toned down way. Something along the following lines.

What about you? How do you feel about black and white?

Till next time

  5. I love black and white with a splash of color (like my living room)...hey! we SHOULD think about a house swap. Our house can handle four boys and you all can ride bikes to the beach or kayak in the bay.

  6. I love black and white the way you have described it. These pictures are definitely up my alley. I'm with you, I don't like the stark, commercial, minimalist black and white. I could live in any of these spaces you've shown. Leahx

  9. I'm with you on the stark black and white - it's too severe for me. But black/gray/white tons with a bit of patina really appeal to me - beautiful examples here!

  13. I love these images. I like black & white in just the right patterns. I love black and soft white toiles; I also love just the right black & white zebra pattern. Black & white has to be traditional looking, like your pictures here, for me to like it. Too much of it is too transitional or just plain modern for my tastes. Great post!

  16. Sharon, these are lovely examples of a kinder, gentler black and white. Usually the modern version, high contrast, is a little uptight for me. However, as a designer I really appreciate design on most levels.

Nice post! Hope you have an incredible day :)

  19. Thank you for your kind words about my website. I hope you will win the beautiful chest. It really is done quite well. My Father was a believer that black and white interiors led inevitably to divorce, so I never have been able to entertain the thought. I must say, my colorful interior did not save me, but I think it is cheerier.
    Best,
    Liz
