I have seen some bloggers use some sort of Random Number Generator to select Giveaway winners. Here at Roses and Rust, we are much more sophisticated...... we pick the names out of a hat! The lucky winners of the two double Decorex tickets are Vanessa Witte and Nadine Raine. Please contact me asap, so I can tell you where to collect your tickets.
Now on to today's post... it is no secret that I love neutrals and while they look beautiful just being neutral, they also create the perfect backdrop when one wants to introduce a bit of colour into an interior.
Have a look at these two homes where just one or two predominant colours have been added to a neutral scheme. The great thing is, that if you get tired of the colour or just feel like a change, it is so easy to just whip away a cushion here or a vase there without going to any great expense.
The first home uses a fairly strong red and softer shades of green.
The second home below uses pretty shades of blue and turquoise added to a neutral background.
I used the words "favourite" and "colour" a few times in this post and every time the American-made spell check tells me I should spell them "favorite" and "color". But here in SA and the UK, we spell them "favourite" and "colour". I wonder why, when they crossed to Atlantic to the New World, many years ago, the "U" got lost. Perhaps a U-Boat got them?
Have a lovely week
Till next time

Congratulations to the winners! I wish I lived closer to attend this event. Just a bit far from DC :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful homes! Love all the slipcovers in the first one. Cheers, Loi
Those lovely boys are definitely much better than random! My favorite of those homes is the second one. Light and airy with the pastel blue! Christa
ReplyDeleteThankyou for sharing these inspiring homes Sharon- have a GREAT week, and congrats to the winners, Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteIn Canada we spell words mostly as they do in Britian, so we keep the 'our' as well and refer to it as our Canadian spelling. It drives me crazy to go into a restaurant etc and see words spelled the American way, as the ones that grew up with computers don't know the difference. Lovely homes in this post, I could cetainly live in either! Patty/BC
ReplyDeleteWow Sharon! Beautiful.. I love the table in the first house. Those linens are gorgeous. Gorgeous homes!

Great inspiration Sharon, always love to see linen...By the way, the spelling issues are the same for we Canadians, too funny! ...or frustrating;)
ReplyDeleteParabéns para as vencedoras. Eu também prefiro os sorteios mais chique. Feito no chapéu. Lindas decorações, eu gosto de uma cor no neutro. Aqui por causa do clima tropical usamos muitas cores.
ReplyDeleteTenha um ótimo início de semana.
Thank you for the tickets! Am so looking forward to Decorex this weekend! Nadine
ReplyDeleteYour sons are adorable! I love that sea glass color added to neutrals, especially in the warmer months!
ReplyDeletebeautiful homes, love the linen colours. Looking forward to visiting Decorex later this week.
ReplyDeleteSharon,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, your "out of a had" officials are darling. Way better than some computer/random selection system. :D
I love so many aspects of both houses. Neutral is something I'm drawn to but somehow never actually can live with in my own home. It must be an internal battle for my left and right brain?!
