The Aesthete's Alphabet - O is for Outside

When it comes to creating a beautiful home, the outside deserves as much attention as the inside, and it is often a lot more difficult to achieve the desired results. Your have to contend with the elements, you have to deal with moles, aphids and suchlike, you have unhappy plants for no apparent reason, (very often when you have planted a symmetrical pair, the one dies, or just doesn't grow....why is that?), your lawn can look pristine and then overnight, your dogs decide to dig a crater in the middle of it! You also have to be extremely patient because it can take years to get the look you were going for. And then there is always something that needs to be fed, watered, clipped, repotted or pruned. I have great admiration for people who create a beautiful outside area ....in comparison, creating a beautiful interior is a breeze.

Here's to all those fabulous gardeners out there who truly make our world a more beautiful place.

The Aesthete's Alphabet - N is for Neutral

As much as I love and appreciate colour, my default position always tends towards neutrals. I find them tranquil and soothing and easy to live with. They are also easy to decorate with because they all blend so beautifully. They don't shout at you, they don't compete for attention, they all just get along in harmony. Now, if only my kids could behave like that!

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy....

Wishing you all a happy week ahead. I will be spending some contemplating O is for.....

The Aesthete's Alphabet - M is for Mannequin

Apologies for my little absence....my blogging mojo deserted me for a while, but I am back (and incidentally, just exceeded 1 million pageviews on my humble little blog - nice motivation to keep going!)
I have accumulated so many pictures of mannequins over the years so this was a great opportunity to share them. I particularly like the ones that are a bit weathered and worn, but you probably know that about me by now! Whether adorned or left bare, they definitely add an interesting dimension to an interior. Feast your eyes.....

Well, now I am exactly half way with my alphabet....phew! The next post will be N for ..... (your guess is as good as mine)

Wishing you all a lovely week.

Till next time
